What Is A Home
Group?
Homes Open
For Ministry & Encouragement
A home group of
8-12 people provides the optimal forum in which you can
develop significant relationships and become more like Christ.
Facilitated by trained leaders, small groups meet
approximately once a week for relationship building, guided
study and serving opportunities. Getting connected into a home
group is a team effort - your willingness to get involved
combined with the opportunities provided by Ridgecrest.
What Is The
Purpose Of The Home Group?
To service
another, accept one another, forgive one another, bear one
another's burdens, be devoted to one another, honor one
another, teach one another, submit to one another, encourage
one another. There is a tremendous emphasis throughout the New
Testament on fellowshipping together, coming together,
ministering and serving one another.
How Can A Large
Church Maintain Close Relationships?
Every member
needs to be part of a home group. Don't you love Sunday
morning service? Great music, great preaching. But it's
difficult to relate personally to the people around you. In a
small group you can share real concerns, really support one
another and encourage each other.
Acts 5:42
"the (believers) met day after day in the temple courts
and from house to house." Two types of church meeting:
Large group celebration and small group fellowship.
We come together on Sunday to celebrate the Lord. We attend
small groups to fellowship where the "one another"
take place. Where we can serve, love and pray for one another.
Notice how many
times (Romans 16:5 and in Acts) where you read the phrase;
"Great the church that meets in their homes." That's
really where the church had growth. At Ridgecrest, we believe
our church must grow larger and smaller at the same time. How
can you be accountable to a large group of people? Only when
we divide the large group down to 20-15 can we really spend
time together and help each other grow.
